Day 99 (4/9/11) - Lil Slugger

At tee ball practice last week, Ryan found that swinging a real bat, albeit a lightweight tee ball bat, is much different than swinging a plastic wiffle ball bat.  So, after his team pictures last night, we took him to Dick's Sporting Goods to buy him his first real bat.  While we were there, he and Gavin tried on the batting helmets.  Gavin could probably legitimately use a helmet to protect him on any given day!

When Daddy got home from work this afternoon, he and Ryan went outside to practice batting in preparation for his first game next week.  I think Ryan's favorite part is running the bases, especially when Daddy is chasing him with the ball and trying to tag him out.  Although in the picture below it appears as though Gavin has fallen out on the front steps, he's really fine.  Apparently he's trying to see how far he can dig under the foundation of the concrete stoop.

After playing outside, the boys definitely needed a bath.  Daddy volunteered to help with the bedtime routine tonight.  Normally, I'm grateful for the help, but tonight I was looking for a fast, uneventful bath so I could resume all my last minute packing.  But, the boys think "Daddy baths" are much more fun - probably because he fills the bathtub up to the brim and encourages vigorous splashing and soap sud fights - and I'm a sucker for these two cute little boys!
