Recently, Gavin has started calling out to us really early in the morning. When we walk into his room, he's standing at the crib rails with his chubby little arms outstretched and an impish grin on his face. As soon as we pick him up, he immediately lays his head on our shoulder, snuggles in, and starts sucking his thumb. Any attempts to lay him back down in his crib inevitably lead to shrieking and wailing. He's not satisfied until we take him back to bed with us. Once he's in our bed, he drapes himself over one of us and falls back to sleep. He also likes to crawl completely on top of us (including Ryan) if he's sleepy during the day or not feeling well. We call this the "barnacle hug" because he clings to us like a barnacle attached to the hull of a ship.

We will take hugs from our snuggle bug any time.
