Day (9/21/11) - Night Owls

We decided to head south a few days before the Disney cruise so we could explore Charleston, SC.  I hadn't been back to the area since I left ten years ago and was anxious to see how much it had changed.  One thing I had forgotten was how long, and boring the drive was (with traffic, 10 hours to be exact!).

After picking the boys up from preschool, we loaded our suitcases in the car and hit the road.  After a brief stop for dinner, we changed the boys into their pajamas hoping they'd fall asleep and we could drive late into the night and then transfer them into a hotel bed without waking them up.  No such luck.  Ryan was so intent on staying up and watching a movie on his new portable DVD player that he actually held his eyelids open!  He finally gave up around 10:30 or so.  I'm not sure that Gavin ever fell completely asleep.

This picture was taken just before 1 am!  Both boys were wide awake as we checked into the hotel in Mt. Pleasant in the middle of the night.  In fact, they even tried to talk us into a few minutes of bed jumping before they went to sleep!  I'm sure the other guests appreciated that Mommy and Daddy emphatically denied that request!

  1. Bed jumping is a family tradition--Mike and Matty were experts!
