Day 157 (6/6/11) - Crab Hill

One of the boys' favorite things to do at the beach is dig for ghost crabs.  They scan the beach looking for scampering crabs or the telltale holes of the crabs' hideouts.  Then they beg Daddy to dig to the bottom of the tunnel (often a foot deep or more) to find the crab and put it in a bucket to watch throughout the day.  There were so many crabs on our stretch of beach in Corolla that Mom Mom dubbed it "Crab Hill."  I think the reason we were able to find so many was because ghost crabs are nocturnal and we were out on the beach so early, the crabs hadn't yet returned to their burrows.

After a long day of digging for crabs, building sandcastles, and jumping waves, we went go-kart racing where Uncle Matty and Makaila surprised everyone with a come-from-behind victory on the final curve of the last lap!  Gracious in defeat, Daddy and Ryan offered to treat everyone to ice cream.
