Day 158 (6/7/11) - Christmas in June

Another blissful day of digging for crabs, playing catch, building sandcastles, jumping waves, and surfing on lounge chairs.  I could get used to life at the beach!

Due to a Christmas snowstorm, we were unable to exchange presents with Uncle Matty, Miss Lauren, and Makaila.  So, we celebrated our Christmas together in June!  The kids were unphased by the unusual timing of it all; they were just thrilled to be getting new toys to play with!

When Mike opened his present from Matty and Lauren, a six-month old container of Fisher's caramel popcorn, Matty dared him to eat a handful.  Mike, who is normally neurotic about eating foods that are anywhere close to their expiration date, could not back down from the challenge.  So, he ate a couple of handfuls before deciding it was too stale to finish.  Perhaps this could explain his sickness later in the week....

After our belated Christmas celebration, we went out for ice cream and a twilight stroll through a local park.
