Day 35 (2/4/11) - Frog Boots And Legos

Gavin is clearly on the mend as he started the day showing signs of his normal feisty self.  However, as they day progressed, it was obvious he was starting to feel increasingly worse.  By dinnertime, he had no appetite, moaned in discomfort, and actually pointed to his crib as if to say, "Mom, please put me to bed."  Not exactly how I wanted to end the day, so I'll probably sleep beside his crib with one hand on his chest to feel it rise and fall with each breath.  This kid is going to be the end of me!

Here is a picture from this afternoon's follow-up visit with the pediatrician.  Yesterday he was too listless to notice or care about the fish aquarium in the waiting room.  Today, it was quite an exciting discovery.  Please note, I did not pick out his footwear today.  He went into the hallway closet, pulled out the froggy rain boots, and absolutely insisted on wearing them even though they are at least 2 sizes too small.  While it wasn't exactly the look I was going for, I figured this boy has been through so much this week, the least I could do was agree to let him wear his rain boots on this sunny afternoon!

During Gavin's afternoon nap, Ryan and I were able to spend some special "Mommy-Ryan" time together.  He wanted to play with Legos so we assembled the kits he got for Christmas (police helicopter, airplane, and canine unit).  Usually he looks at the directions and finds the pieces needed for each step, but wants us to do the actual assembly.  Today he put the vehicles together all by himself.  Soon it may be time to graduate to the larger, more complex Lego sets.

  1. BTW, we still have a large aquarium that you can set up for the boys. Then Gavin won't have to get sick to see the fish, and Ryan can build an aquatic playground with his Legos. Also, they can observe good stroke techniques for the swim team.
