Gavin was baptised on Sunday, February 21, during the 9:30 a.m. worship service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury, MD. The ceremony was performed by Reverend George Patterson, who officiated our wedding almost 7 years ago and baptised Ryan nearly 3 years ago. We affectionately refer to him as "Joy," initially because the vestment/stole he wore during our wedding was embroidered with the word, "Joy." The nickname has stuck because he has presided over so many of the joyous occasions in our life.
Gavin is such a big "Mommy's boy" that we worried he would cry when the preacher took him to perform the baptism and walk up and down the aisles to introduce him to the congregation. We had the same concern with Ryan, but much to our surprise and relief, both boys cooperated! Luckily, Gavin, our little thumb sucker, was content to suck his thumb as Rev. Patterson carried him around.
After the ceremony, we hosted a brunch at Market Street Inn for all of our family and friends who attended the baptism. It meant so much to have our loved ones witness our pledge to instill Christian values in Gavin and our promise to teach him the importance of faith and the power of God's love. Below are some pictures of our special day.
